The first festival… an idea born in late 2014, planned and crowdfunded from 2015 into 2016… and a community came together. It was a huge challenge and absolutely exhausting! but we knew we had to do it again!

We could not have done anything without our magnificent venue - Bolton Castle. This amazing image was supplied by the Swaledale Festival, who were early supporters of MMitD.

Scottish medieval ensemble Gaita have been at every single festival and have contributed so much. They often lead dance workshops - as here in 2016.

Acclaimed medieval harpist Leah Stuttard was one of our concert performers in 2016 - she got in touch with us out of the blue and has remained a friend of the festival ever since.

Jean-Daniel Talma of Atelier Elbock was just one of the amazing instrument makers who came along to our first ever festival. We are confident this was the biggest assembly of medieval luthiers ever seen in the UK to that date.

Tritor have become a magnificent mainstay of the Castle Stages at MMitD - this was their first appearance!

Many folk joined in with performances on the Castle Stages - here is the totally groovy Sam Burke playing in the Tavern.
