We were able to return to Bolton Castle in 2021, for a pared-down version of the festival - which nonetheless saw a wonderful line-up. We took the theme that had been scheduled for 2020 - A Dance in Italy - with a focus on Italian music and dance music.

The audience lapped up performances in the Tavern - which had moved outside into a decorated marquee for better ventilation and all-round safety.

The Festival Choir sang for everyone at the Festival Finale

It was another weekend of gorgeous weather, and the Castle looked particularly spectacular by moonlit night.
Gaita presented a programme of 15th-century dances in the evening concerts. They were splendidly stylish, and the audience loved their performances.
